The Chief Executive Officer of Africa’s Leading Technology Company, Seamless Technologies, Dr Emmanuel Okeleji, has called on leaders in Ghana’s financial services industry to take a more deliberate and strategic approach to Artificial Intelligence (AI) with a focus on translating AI investment into measurable gains in productivity, profitability and business performance.
Dr Okeleji made the call at the Banking and Financial Services Industry Executive Roundtable, organised by Seamless Technologies in partnership with Innosol Ltd. The executive forum brought together CEOs, Managing Directors, CHROs, CIOs and other senior leaders from across Ghana’s financial services sector to examine how organisations can move beyond AI experimentation and integrate the technology into the way they operate.
Held under the theme, “The AI Powered Enterprise: Reimagining Productivity, Profitability and Performance in Ghana’s Financial Services Industry,” the roundtable examined the opportunities and challenges associated with AI adoption across banking, insurance and other financial services institutions.
The discussion featured Emmanuel Morka, Regional CIO, Access Bank PLC; Jacqueline Dufie Mpare, Managing Director, Pan African Savings and Loans Ltd; Tweneboah Koduah Boakye, CEO, Ghana Association of Savings and Loans Companies (GHALSAC); and Michael Abbiw, President, Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana. A representative of the Commissioner of Insurance, Ghana, Dr Abiba Zakariah, also participated, underscoring the relevance of AI to the insurance sector and the broader financial services ecosystem.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr Okeleji said AI has become an increasingly important part of how organisations operate and that businesses need to move from observing its development to making deliberate decisions about where and how it can create value.
“AI presents one of the biggest opportunities for businesses to improve productivity and performance. The focus should be on how we deliberately integrate AI into the way organisations operate, empower people, enhance productivity and create value,” Dr Okeleji said.
He added that the value of AI will not be determined by the technology itself, but by how effectively organisations apply it to real business challenges and embed it within existing ways of working.
Discussions at the roundtable explored practical applications of AI across financial institutions, including workforce productivity, operational efficiency, customer experience, data driven decision making and overall business performance.
Participants also highlighted that successful AI adoption extends beyond technology investment. Leadership alignment, data governance, cybersecurity, workforce readiness and the integration of AI into existing business processes were identified as critical considerations for organisations seeking to achieve sustainable value from AI.
For an industry operating in an increasingly digital and competitive environment, the conversation reinforced the need for financial institutions to consider AI not simply as a technology initiative, but as part of broader business and workforce strategy.
The roundtable forms part of Seamless Technologies’ broader engagement with Ghana’s business community on AI, workforce productivity and digital transformation. Through its technology platforms and sector engagements, the company continues to support organisations as they seek to improve how their people work, how their businesses operate and how they deliver value through technology.
